About Me

IMG_0388Chef Veronica’s deep appreciation for Latin cuisine was developed at a young age.  Born to Puerto Rican parents from Mayaguez and raised in the city that never sleeps, New York City,  she was exposed to a variety of foods that would fuel her lifelong passion for cooking.  Chef Veronica’s culinary career began over 25 years ago when by the age of six she was practicing her brand of food alchemy cooking for her family.  Chef Veronica’s love affair with food began in the kitchen, where she developed her creativity, spirit and passion for culinary arts.  She believes the milestones of life revolve around coming back to the table for food, family and fun.

Chef Veronica Velez is the epitome of a professional woman who was drawn to pursue her passion while reinventing herself. With a background in Business and a degree in Hospitality Management from NYC College of Technology, she satiated the desire to build on her entrepreneurial and managerial pursuits. Finding it absolutely impossible to ignore her passion she accepted a position with BR Guest Restaurants. During this time Chef Veronica transcended into a managerial role, accepting the responsibility of maintaining the entire restaurant group’s licenses and permits.  Chef Veronica was entrusted with responsibility of operating 17 locations around NYC, Las Vegas and Florida.  It was there she gained the knowledge, skills, and confidence she needed to advance to the next level.  After several years in management she joined NYC Department of Business Acceleration helping restaurants get their doors open.

Chef Veronica actively contributes to the culinary community as a hospitality consultant.  In 2011, Chef Veronica was asked to sit on the tasting panel for the 1st episode of “The Chew”.  Chef Veronica was an invited guest to Harvest in the Square, which is a celebration of community and cuisine amongst New York’s premier chefs in the historic Union Square district. Chef Veronica maintains her relevance within the cooking community by hosting the 1st Paella Parade at South St. Seaport, volunteering for Daisy Martinez and being an invited guest of Ilan Hall, Top Chef, to Urban Outfitter’s first building in NYC- Space Ninety.  To say that food is Chef Veronica’s passion would be an understatement.  She is a blogger, food writer and recipe developer whose specialty is Puerto Rican food. Chef Veronica’s love of her Latin culture and passion for only the best ingredients was the catalyst in her creating all foods from scratch.  This passion led her to win first place in the annual Coquito Masters competition in El Museo Del Barrio.  The foundation of every dish is to maintain the heritage, tradition and legacy of foods within the Puerto Rican culture.

Chef Veronica strives to infuse her unique cultural history and tradition while prepping every meal.  She dreams of owning her own restaurant, as well as event planning to share her love of Latin cuisine with all food connoisseurs.  This is the dedication that keeps Chef Veronica in search of the next culinary experience.
